The Gowrie (QLD) September Conference 2013
Are we there yet? “Reflecting on Practice and the National Quality Framework”
Below is a review of our 2012 Conference
This year’s Gowrie conference held on Friday 28th September and Saturday 29th September was just as exciting as last year’s conference. The title of the Conference Are we there Yet? “Reflecting on Practice and the National Framework”, gave us all an opportunity to discuss what we had been doing and what we wish to achieve.
Professor. Dr Ferre Laevers, from Leuven University in Belgium, inspired thought provoking conversations through his animated lecture and presentation on “A process orientated strategy for the improvement of quality. The role of Observation.” And Margy Whalley, a well known speaker from the UK continued the first day with a highly motivated discussion on Leadership.
The Conference continued with lively presentations and wonderful speakers such as Kaye Colmer (CEO Gowrie SA), Louise Thomas (Assistant Head of School ACU), Heather Barnes and Kerry Mallon who concluded Saturday afternoon with ‘What children’s literature can tell us about truth and deception.’
The enthused presenters along with enthusiastic delegates worked hard, enjoyed themselves, and went away with the knowledge that We are on Our Way!
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the two day conference a success.

Excellent – it makes me feel proud to work for an organisation that prides itself on not only the education of young children but also their valued staff.

Thought the conference had a great atmosphere – workshops were relevant – Ferre was inspiring – loved his presentation. It’s great to see that what we all believe in, is backed up by research.
